Lake Como. Cool Colonno rental home doesn't do ordinary.

There's a stretch of the western shore where the lake gets close enough to touch where the water laps right at the edge of the terrace, and the mountains across the way turn every shade of copper and rust once October approaches. This is that stretch. Rhe village of Colonno. And this house sits right in the middle of it.

Three levels, a spiral staircase with real personality, and two ways in: one through a private street entrance, the other straight off the lake terrace, because some houses just get the geography right. Lake Como. Villa La Solitaria, a story you get to live in.

Above the water in Blevio, hidden among narrow lanes and old stone, a villa from 1890 waits with its tower reaching toward the lake. This isn't just where you'll stay. It's where a story you didn't write becomes yours, for a week or two.

Every level of the tower is its own chapter. A cosy sitting room and first bedroom on entry. Climb, and two more bedrooms appear, en-suite, with the lake slipping in through the windows when you least expect it. Descend, and you find the heart of the house — stone walls, arched glass doors, a kitchen and dining space that spills straight into the garden, where old trees and stone terraces seem to float right above the water.
