The Arches is located within one of Cortona's oldest and most historic buildings that underwent a complete renovation less than 8 years ago. It is uniquely located just 100 meters slightly uphill from Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza Signorelli, and Via Nazionale. The Arches sits almost exactly between the lower central areas of town and the higher part of Cortona named "Il Poggio" which is the least seen, yet oldest and most characteristic and romantic part of Cortona. While being extremely central, The Arches neighborhood is very quiet and almost exclusively residential. The important church of San Francesco is right in front of the building's entrance, and while many tourists venture up to visit it, it is out of the main crowd's reach. This central location makes it easy to stroll down to the piazzas to grab a coffee and a pastry, or an aperitivo in the evening, without ever being too far from the comfort and safety of this charming "home." The Arches is located on one of the few streets in Cortona's historic center that is easily accessible by car, without a special permit. One can drive right up to the front of the building and unload luggage, and then continue on to find free parking, which begins just a few steps from the front door all the way to the exit of the center. There are two large free lots just outside the walls, both a ten minute walk to the apartment.
