L’abbazia di Sassovivo sorge alle pendici del Monte Serrone, nel comune di Foligno.
Fondata da eremiti benedettino nella seconda metà dell’anno 1000 d.C, è isoalta su uno sperone di roccia abbracciata da un’immensa lecceta secolare, tra le più antiche di tutta la regione.
Questo splendido luogo che si staglia su un’idilliaco paesaggio naturale è la meta perfetta per gli amanti dell’outdoor, del turismo lento e della storia: oltre a godere di un ambiente verde e silenzioso, è possibile vistarne l’interno ricco di importanti testimonianze storiche ed artistiche e suggestivi scorci architettonici.

The Sassovivo Abbey stands on the slopes of Monte Serrone, in the municipality of Foligno.
Founded by Benedictine hermits in the second half of the year 1000 AD, it is isolated on a spur of rock embraced by an immense secular holm oak wood, one of the oldest in the whole region.
This splendid place that stands out against an idyllic natural landscape is the perfect destination for lovers of the outdoors, slow tourism and history: in addition to enjoying a green and silent environment, it is possible to visit its interior full of important testimonies historical and artistic and suggestive architectural views.
