In Bocca di Valle, near Guardiagrele, there’s a memorial with a remarkable story.

Created to remember the sons of Abruzzo who never returned from the First World War, it later became the final resting place of naval officer Andrea Bafile.

The intricate wrought ironwork carries the name Di Prinzio, a family whose ironworking tradition in Guardiagrele dates back to 1856.
The copper vessels around the base are conche, traditionally used to carry water.
Here, an everyday object has become part of a work of art, bringing together the town's craftsmanship and its cultural heritage.
