🍇 Harvest morning at Campo Sasso!
Pierre, Julian & Oliver (with Frisbee supervising, of course 🐾) were up early to harvest the grapes from our little vineyard of just 500 vines.
But this isn’t quite a conventional vineyard. Our vines grow agroforestry-style, woven between olive trees and fruit trees, sharing the land rather than taking it over.
Everything is done on a tiny, hands-on scale: grapes picked by hand in the cool of the early morning, brought straight in and gently pressed in the basket press.
And then? The w**e begins its slow transformation in perhaps the most Campo Sasso place imaginable… our cheese cellar. 🧀🍷
From 500 vines, a family, a dog, a basket press and a cellar full of cheese.

It doesn’t get much more homemade than this!

A little vineyard check at Campo Sasso.
Our little vineyard is grown using an agroforestry approach, where the vines share the landscape with olive trees, fruit trees and plenty of biodiversity. Rather than creating a monoculture, we believe a vineyard should be part of a living ecosystem, with every plant and animal playing its own role.
And, of course, no vineyard inspection would be complete without Cosimo II 🐓—our resident Black Rooster, who spends his days proudly roaming the rows as if he owns the place (to be fair... he probably does!)

One thing we will tell you: these are all white grape varieties. Which ones? That’s staying our little secret... for now. 😉

🍷 A Little Piece of Campo Sasso’s History…

Some moments in w**emaking feel less like work and more like a privilege.

This week, Pierre carefully racked a Vin Santo that has been quietly maturing for well over 10 years in three tiny wooden barrels tucked away at Campo Sasso.

These weren’t our barrels. They were left behind by the previous owner of the farmhouse—a beautiful reminder that every place has a story, and sometimes you become the next guardian of it.

Opening the barrels felt a little like opening a time capsule. Years of slow evaporation, patient ageing, and the gentle influence of the wood had transformed the w**e into something incredibly concentrated, complex, and full of character.

Sometimes the greatest treasures aren’t the ones you create yourself… they’re the ones you’re trusted to preserve. ❤️🍇

🍕🔥 What better way to begin your Tuscan holiday than with a pizza-making class?

Our guests recently chose to kick off their stay at Campo Sasso with a welcome pizza class led by our super-talented pizza chef, Juan from Chianti.

And judging by the smiles (and the empty plates!), it was a huge success.

From stretching dough and choosing toppings to learning a few insider secrets of authentic Italian pizza, everyone got hands-on and discovered that making great pizza is equal parts technique, patience, and fun.

Of course, the best part came at the end: gathering around the table to enjoy the fruits of their labor with a glass of w**e and views of the Tuscan countryside.

A perfect first evening at Campo Sasso, where good food, good company, and unforgettable memories come together. 🍷🍕
