Post 5 of 10 โ Day Out by Bus ๐ โ Mondello Beach, Sicily's Most Famous Beach
This week in our Best Days Out in Sicily by Train series, weโre sharing another easy trip from Isola delle Femmine.
Stay by the sea, explore Sicily by train, then come back to the village for sunset, dinner and the relaxed rhythm of coastal life.
๐ฎ๐น Some days call for a beach. And not just any beach.
Mondello is Palermo's playground โ a wide crescent of white sand lapped by shallow, crystal-clear turquoise water, backed by Art Nouveau villas and a lively seafront full of bars, restaurants and gelaterias.
And from our village, it's easier to reach than you might think.
๐๐ How to get there:
โ Train from Isola delle Femmine to Palermo (20 mins)
โ Bus 806 from Piazza Sturzo to Mondello Beach (25โ50 mins depending on traffic)
โ Ticket: โฌ1.40 one way โ runs year-round
๐๏ธ What to do:
โ Swim in the shallow, calm, turquoise water
โ Hire sunbeds at a lido or use the free public beach areas at either end
โ Walk the seafront promenade past the beautiful Liberty villas
โ Lunch at a seafront restaurant โ the seafood is excellent
โ Stay into the evening when the promenade comes alive
๐ก Tip: Go early in summer โ Mondello gets busy and the bus fills up fast.
