An Indian Summer maybe on the cards but some great memories of our trips this year with our thoughts now turning to the Winter season. The Winter Olympics 2026 obviously takes centre stage in February. A fantastic event that will however make the season shorter for thé recreational skier. Lago di Sorapis an absolute stunning location. In my opinion the best of the Classic Dolomite trails.
A lot of conflicting info on the accessability and difficulty of this walk.

Hopefully this helps. From the designated car park you are looking at a round trip of 13km with an outward elevation gain of 300m. The trailhead is 200m from the hotel at Passo Tre Croce. The carpark will be full in the Summer from 9.00am and roadside parking is precarious. The trail is very busy and this presents a hazard in itself as a few sections are quite narrow. Go as early as you can.

Trail 215 will take you all the way there. A couple of short steep sections and a brief on the edge of the cliff moment toward the top. If you haven’t got a head for heights this may not be for you!

No special equipment needed and you will see many clambering up in trainers, tee shirts with very little water etc. Fine in good conditions but a recipe for disaster if the weather changes and it can change very quickly especially in the afternoons. We have seen some massive storms brew up this week. Get caught in one of these and the casual look won’t cut it. With good boots, sticks and plenty of water a recreational hiker is not going to have a problem with this trail. However it needs a little respect.

Dolomites never fail to deliver ! First day on the slopes December 6th and last ski day yesterday. Thanks to all our guests/friends who made the season so much fun! Highlights … snowshoeing up to the Cinque Torre. Recent snowstorms will extend the season into April but take care as the snow is very unstable off piste.
