Meet the team – Mike 👋

Nearly four years ago, Jersey Asbestos started as a specialist surveying and sampling business. Since then, we’ve continued to grow into asbestos management, training and now removal.

Mike still remains very much hands-on, carrying out the majority of our surveying and sampling work across the Island.

Are you the 'DutyHolder' for a commercial property or Apartment block built before the year 2000 ?

This guidance is for the person who has a legal duty to manage asbestos in a building – the ‘dutyholder’. This could be the:

building owner
landlord for the premises
person or organisation with clear responsibility for the building's maintenance or repair

The dutyholder must protect people from the risks of exposure to asbestos. This includes people who:

work in their buildings
use them in other ways (work or live there)

If you are the dutyholder of a commercial building built before the year 2000 then you have a legal duty to have an Asbestos Management Survey, and if asbestos is identified an Asbestos Management Plan & Register, which should be reassessed every 12 months (6 months for licenced asbestos materials)
