🏠 Okinawa renovation case | Old house reused as a stay
📍 Traditional old house with cement roof tiles
📐 57.46㎡
💰 Renovation cost: ¥36m (approx. US$240k)
🔨 10-month renovation / 66 years old
At first, it looked more like a ruin than a house.
Covered in spider webs, surrounded by overgrown plants, and left unused for years — local neighbors even warned, “Be careful, this is where habu snakes pass.”
But one thing had survived surprisingly well: the old cement-tile roof.
Instead of rebuilding, the project turned this forgotten Okinawan house into a private retreat and small accommodation space — designed not only for ownership, but also for future operation as a stay experience.
✨A house that had almost stopped being useful became valuable again through a different purpose.
