Creative director → regenerative farmer.
Thirty years ago, I began my career telling stories through design, branding and film. I was fortunate to work with organisations around the world, helping communicate ideas that could inspire positive change.
But over time, I found myself asking a bigger question.
What if the most meaningful work wasn’t just telling stories about a better future, but helping to build one?
That question led me to a 120-year-old abandoned kominka in the satoyama of Fujino.
Over the past year, we’ve been restoring the house, regenerating the land, and learning how to grow food using no-till farming, permaculture, and traditional Japanese natural farming. It’s been a journey of patience, humility and learning from nature—one season at a time.
the MILL is more than a farm. It’s a place where people can reconnect with nature, discover regenerative ways of living and working, and remember that healthy communities begin with healthy soil.
This Saturday we’ll be bringing our very first potato harvest to the Aoyama Farmers Market.
If you’re there, please come and say hello. I’d love to meet you, hear your story, and share ours.
