Less touristy, more real Tokyo energy.

Shimokitazawa is the kind of place where you come for the vintage shops and stay for everything else, live music, cats on quiet lanes, ramen that hits, and cafes hiding in places you'd never think to look.

Wander in. You'll figure the rest out.

Japan will quietly change the way you think about everyday life.

The punctuality isn't a stereotype. Trains apologise over the intercom for being 60 seconds late. There's a standard for how things are done here and it runs through everything.

Food is taken seriously at every level. A convenience store onigiri at 7am hits differently when it's been made fresh that morning. A bowl of ramen from a tiny counter with no English menu might be the best thing you eat all trip.

And the hospitality. Omotenashi. It's not just good service, it's a genuine commitment to making someone feel cared for. You'll notice it in the small things and it'll stay with you long after you leave.
Japan gets under your skin. First time or return trip, it always delivers something new.

First trip to Japan? A few things worth knowing before you land.

Tokyo is one of the most well-organised, welcoming cities in the world, but it runs on its own rules. Get across these basics and the whole place opens up fast. The trains are punctual to the minute, the neighbourhoods are endlessly walkable, and the food scene will ruin you for everywhere else. You just need to know how to move through it.

Japan is one of the easiest countries to travel in. Once you know a few things.
Cash is still king. Many smaller restaurants, temples, and local shops don't take cards. Hit an ATM at a 7-Eleven or Japan Post as soon as you land.

Get a Suica card. It works on trains, buses, and vending machines across most of the country. One tap and you're moving.

Google Maps reads the Tokyo train network better than most locals can explain it. Use it without guilt.
And the golden rule: be quiet on public transport. No phone calls, keep your voice low, headphones in. The trains run perfectly. The silence is part of the experience.

Japan rewards the prepared traveller. Save this before your trip and send it to whoever you're travelling with. 🗾

The kind of Tokyo home you don't want to leave.

Four bedrooms. Mid-century modern interiors. A neighbourhood where embassies, Michelin-starred restaurants, and Tokyo Tower are all within reach. This is Mita, one of the city's most prestigious addresses, and it's where you'll be staying.

Mita Hillside Villa was designed for groups who want space without compromise. A large open-plan living and dining area for everyone to come together. A fully equipped gourmet kitchen for the nights you'd rather stay in. Four generous bedrooms, two with ensuites, luxurious bedding, and enough room to actually breathe.

Sleeps 8. 3.5 bathrooms. Japanese toilet technology throughout (once you know, you know). High-speed WiFi, laundry and air conditioning.

From here, Roppongi is 8 minutes. Ginza is 15. Shibuya, Shinjuku, Asakusa, all connected and easy. And when you're ready to slow down, Shiba Park and the quieter streets of Mita are right outside the door.

Tokyo at its best. A home that matches it.

Not Shinjuku. Not Shibuya. Just Koenji.

Seven minutes on the train and it feels like a completely different city. Vintage shops, izakayas down narrow alleys, live music on a Tuesday, cats on the street that couldn't care less about you.

Koenji isn't perfect. That's exactly why it's perfect.

Japan isn't just a destination. It's a full reset.
Temples older than most countries, tucked between convenience stores and vending machines. Ramen that'll ruin you for anywhere else. A city that somehow runs quieter the bigger it gets.

Tokyo is overwhelming in the best possible way. And once it gets under your skin, you'll be planning your return before you've even left. We've watched it happen to thousands of guests. Japan does something to people.
