Today marked another successful community outreach as we partnered with Eldo-Eye to improve the health and well-being of the people of West Pokot. Through this initiative, we distributed crutches, wheelchairs, reading glasses, and essential medical drugs to those in need. We also conducted comprehensive eye screening services, enabling many residents to receive early diagnosis and treatment for various eye conditions. The smiles and renewed hope witnessed throughout the day were a true reflection of the impact that collective efforts can make in transforming lives.

For patients who required specialized eye surgery, immediate arrangements were made to transfer them to Eldoret at ELDO Eye Hospital, where they will receive advanced medical care. This ensured that those with critical eye conditions could access timely treatment without unnecessary delays. We sincerely appreciate the dedication and professionalism of the Eldo-Eye medical team for their commitment to restoring sight and improving the quality of life for our people.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Kangaroo Shuttle Office, Kapenguria, for their invaluable support in facilitating the transportation of patients to Eldoret. Your generosity and partnership played a vital role in making this exercise a success. We are delighted to announce that this evening we held a successful meeting with the ELDO EYE team, bringing great news to the people of West Pokot County. This Saturday, 1st August, ELDO EYE specialists will be in Kapenguria Town to offer eye screening, consultation, and treatment services to members of the public. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone experiencing eye-related problems such as poor vision, eye pain, cataracts, redness, or any other eye condition to receive professional medical attention.

In addition, amputees will not be left behind. They are warmly encouraged to attend and benefit from the support and services that will be available during the event. We invite all residents of West Pokot County to spread this information to their families, friends, neighbours, and loved ones so that no one misses this important opportunity. The Wilson Lonapa Peace Foundation successfully conducted a mentorship programme at St. Maurice Mixed Day Secondary School aimed at inspiring and empowering students to become responsible members of society. Following the mentorship session, the foundation donated sanitary towels to the girls to support their health, dignity, and uninterrupted education, while footballs were presented to the boys as an encouragement to participate in sports, promote teamwork, and nurture their talents.

During the programme, the school principal emphasised the importance of respect as a fundamental value in shaping responsible and disciplined individuals. Members of the foundation also shared valuable insights on various factors that contribute to positive youth behaviour, including self-discipline, integrity, education, good peer influence, hard work, peaceful coexistence, and making wise life choices. Wilson Lonapa Peace Foundation, in partnership with Smile and Shine Organization, had the privilege of visiting Cheposekek Junior Secondary School in Sook Ward, Kapenguria Constituency, West Pokot County, for a meaningful mentorship programme aimed at empowering and inspiring learners. During the visit, the team engaged students in discussions on education, discipline, self-confidence, leadership, personal hygiene, and the importance of making responsible life choices. As part of our commitment to promoting the well-being and dignity of the girl child, we donated sanitary towels to help ensure that girls can manage their menstrual health safely, confidently, and without interruption to their education. This initiative reflects our dedication to creating a clean, healthy, and supportive learning environment where every child has an equal opportunity to succeed.

The Wilson Lonapa Peace Foundation, in partnership with CICR and Smile and Shine, proudly visited Nasokol Girls High School to donate sanitary towels and conduct a comprehensive mentorship programme aimed at empowering, nurturing, and inspiring young girls. The initiative was designed to address the challenges girls face in their educational journey while equipping them with the knowledge, confidence, and life skills needed to become responsible, resilient, and successful future leaders. By ensuring access to menstrual hygiene products, the programme also sought to reduce absenteeism caused by period poverty and promote dignity, health, and equal opportunities for every girl.

The mentorship sessions focused on building self-confidence and self-esteem, encouraging the students to believe in their abilities and understand that their dreams are valid regardless of their background. The girls were challenged to remain focused on their education, develop positive attitudes, set meaningful goals, and make wise decisions that would shape a brighter future. They were reminded that discipline, determination, and hard work are the foundation of personal success and community transformation.

Special emphasis was placed on menstrual health and hygiene management. The event was graced by the First Lady of West Pokot County, Mrs. Simon Kachapin, representatives from the County Commissioner's office, the Chief Officer for Sports, and the Chief Officer for Tourism.
