Introduction
One of Satan's greatest strategies is to shift our focus from the perfection of Christ to the imperfections of people. Many believers have left the church or backslidden, not because God failed them, but because they were hurt by people. Some were offended by church leaders, betrayed by close friends, criticized by fellow believers, or discouraged by the hypocrisy they witnessed in the church.
But the crucial question is this:
Did you give your life to Jesus because of people, or because of Christ?
The church is a spiritual hospital, not a museum of perfect people. Hospitals are filled with sick people who are being healed. Likewise, the church is filled with believers who are growing, struggling, repenting, and being transformed by the grace of God.
Philosophically, abandoning eternal truth because of another person's weakness is allowing human failure to determine your eternal destiny.
Theologically, salvation is a personal covenant between God and each believer. Although we worship together as the Body of Christ, every individual will stand alone before God to give an account. No one will be judged because of another person's sins, nor will anyone be saved because of another person's faith.
