Super CS Aden Duale Represents Kenya on the Global Health Stage in India
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale joined fellow ministers at the Ministerial Roundtable on Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine (TCIM) in New Delhi, India, reaffirming Kenya’s commitment to integrating safe, science-based traditional medicine into Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Kenya expressed strong support for WHO leadership and aligned its health reforms with the global theme on restoring balance in health and well-being. CS Dualle highlighted Kenya’s firm regulatory framework, including the TCIM Policy, Traditional Health Practitioners Bill, National Research Framework, and Herbalist Handbook, with strict oversight by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB).
He noted Kenya’s recognition as a Regional Centre of Regulatory Excellence in Pharmacovigilance, underscoring the country’s focus on patient safety, research, and innovation. Kenya is also leveraging AI, genomics, and digital health to strengthen evidence-based traditional medicine.
The CS reaffirmed government commitment to progressively integrate validated TCIM into primary healthcare and social health insurance, while working closely with WHO, Africa CDC, and global partners to strengthen health systems across Africa.
