*AL-HIKMA FOUNDATION: THE UNFINISHED JOURNEY OF FAITH.*
In the dusty town of Garba Tula, there is a story that many people know, but few truly understand. It is a story of sacrifice, rejection, perseverance, and unwavering faith. It is the story of Al-Hikma Foundation and the man behind it, Sheikh Abdikarim, widely known as Sheikh Kishki.
The story began in 2020 with a simple mission: to teach the Holy Quran and Islamic knowledge to young boys and girls in the community.
There were no classrooms.
There were no offices.
There was no funding.
There was only faith, determination, and a dream.
Sheikh Kishki dedicated his life to teaching children the Quran, Islamic law, and good manners. He taught wherever he could find space. Sometimes lessons were held in Al Hudah Mosque. He also extended his mission to Manyatta Prison, where he shared Islamic teachings with inmates, believing that every soul deserves guidance and a second chance.
The road was not easy.
Many times, he and his students faced challenges. Without a permanent learning center, they moved from place to place. There were moments when some members of the community questioned his efforts. At times, he was asked to stop teaching in certain places, leaving students without a stable environment to continue their studies.
For many people, such challenges would have marked the end of the journey.
But for Sheikh Kishki, they became reasons to continue.
Despite earning only small stipends, he continued teaching. Instead of spending what little he received on personal comfort, he saved every possible shilling for the future of his students.
Then hope arrived.
A well-wisher donated a piece of land where the dream of Al-Hikma Foundation could begin to take shape. Construction started slowly. Brick by brick. Step by step.
But the reality remains difficult.
Today, the project is still unfinished.
The classrooms are not fully complete.
Resources remain limited.
The needs continue to grow.
Yet every day, students still come seeking knowledge. Every day, lessons continue. Every day, Sheikh Kishki refuses to abandon the vision he started years ago.
The unfinished walls of Al-Hikma Foundation tell a powerful story. They speak of struggle. They speak of sacrifice. They speak of a dream that has not yet been fulfilled but refuses to die.
Behind every block stands a contribution.
Behind every lesson stands a sacrifice.
Behind every student stands a hope for a better future.
Al-Hikma Foundation is not simply a building project. It is a movement dedicated to preserving Islamic knowledge and empowering the next generation through education and faith.
The journey is not over.
The struggle continues.
The construction continues.
The teaching continues.
And the dream continues.
As long as there are students willing to learn and teachers willing to sacrifice, the light of knowledge will never be extinguished.
