*Visit of the First Lady to Dy Farm, Githunguri*
Dy Farm, recognised as the most productive farm in Githunguri, had the honour of hosting the First Lady. She was warmly received by the farmβs owner, Njenga Mabati, who is also vying for the Githunguri MP seat on a DCP ticket.
During her visit, the First Lady expressed amazement at how 75 dairy cows are accommodated on just half an acre of land, producing over 2,000 litres of milk daily.
We showcased several innovations and practices that make Dy Farm a model of modern agribusiness:
- *Automation in Milking:* Demonstrated our automated milking system, which enhances efficiency and reduces labour costs.
- *Silage Production & Storage:* Took her through our silage-making process and highlighted our ability to store maize silage from 100 acres in our silage bunker.
- *Record Keeping & Breeding:* Shared our digital record-keeping system for breeding and herd management.
- *Cost Control & HR Management:* Discussed strategies for financial efficiency and effective human resource management.
- *Disease Control & Calf Rearing:* Presented our expertise in maintaining herd health and raising strong calves.
- *Energy Conservation:* Showed her our solar and biogas systems, which reduce energy costs and promote sustainability.
- *Data-Driven Decisions:* Highlighted our automated data entry system that supports quick and informed decision-making.
The visit concluded with a farm-to-table lunch hosted for her team. In her closing remarks, the First Lady invited Githunguri farmers to Wamunyoro Village to learn more about her own farming initiatives.
