One of my favourite quotes from Steve Jobs is "You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."
Do you agree with Jobs on this?

SAVING VS INVESTING

What’s the difference?
Saving is setting aside money for emergencies or for a future purchase. It’s often quickly accessible, with very few hurdles and very low risk. We all need these to cater for our short term goals or for emergencies, without having to access our investments which are working hard for us.

Investing is buying assets with the expectation that they will make money for you. They will work for you even when you’re sleeping or focusing on other activities in your life. This is where real wealth is created!!

Savings prevent us from interfering with these wealth creation ventures. E.g. with a good emergency kitty, you don’t need to sell your shares or property to take care of your bills when your business is not doing well, or you’ve lost your job.

Examples of places you can save your money include savings accounts in banks, SACCOs and some Unit Trusts. Investment instruments include Government Securities, Shares and bonds, Real Estate and Businesses.

Want to know how to get started on any one of these, and how to use them to achieve your future goals? Join me from 1st March, 2021 for an 8-week program in which we discuss each in detail and learn how to get started. DM me for more details!!

Even when it’s about investing, educating yourself pays off big time. So that you don’t risk your money where it won’t serve you. True?

WHY SHOULD YOU INVEST IN GOVERNMENT SECURITIES?

Investing in government securities is world over considered among the safest investment options. Why? Because governments are the issuers of currencies hence you can trust them to repay.
Investing in government securities means buying:

🔥Treasury bills - short term (91 days, 182 days and 364 days) or
🔥Treasury bonds – long term (2 years, 5 years, 10 years, 15 years).

So you give the government money for the specified period of time and they pay it back with an interest.

Why should you invest in government securities?
1. Your initial investment (principle) is secure. That is, you can never get back less than you invested.
2. The interest agreed on from the get go stays the same throughout the term. If its 10% for 10 years you get the return
3. Interest is paid twice a year
4. CBK is very efficient in making payments… payments are made promptly into your account on the day of maturity or interest payment
5. It is acceptable as a security for loans by many financial institutions and also as “proof of funds” for visa processing, by embassies.

Want more details on how to get started on this and 7 other investment instruments? Join me starting 15th February, 2021 for the 8-WEEK INVESTMENTS PROGRAM. DM me for more details!!
