I have come across many houses & buildings constructed with Interlocking stabilized soil blocks. To say the truth, majority are not appealing at all. One cannot use them to pitch for business from a new client. Many would consider it as a failed walling solution. However, that's not the case. It's a very realistic and viable technology for realizing affordable and elegant houses. The problem we are having is that majority of the people who purport to be experts or providers of this technology know little or have deliberately not bothered to research and understand the technology so well.
To get everything right with Interlocking Stabilized blocks building system, the following ought to be taken into account;

% 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁- the % of cement should never be less than 10%. For external walls, the percentage of cement can be slighter higher while for partitions can be slightly lowered.

Mixing- proper mixing of raw materials should be done. For hand mixing, it should be done in at least five steps.

𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴- for the first 3 days, curing should be done at least 3 times a day. After that, 2 times a day for the next 5 days

𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀- after block laying, sealing of joints should be done with mortar of same materials used to make the blocks though with a slightly higher % of cement.

𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗶𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁- this makes the makes shiny and attractive as well as making them waterproof.

By adhering to the above points, you will never regret why you considered using ISSBS in your project. Apart from the realizing savings and having an elegant structure, the frequency of maintenance will be very minimal
