This is an organization formed to fill a need that exists in our society today:
The richest members of our society don’t pay rent, while the poorest pay rent every month. This means that the rich are able to get richer, while the poor give their money to the rich. So this is an attempt at empowering people to close that gap. More specifically, anyone who earns 30,000/= shillings or less has very
little hope of ever owning a house. Also such people are almost never able to get mortgage loans since they rarely have the required collateral (which coincidentally only rich people have!)
The organization is designed to bank on the idea of “unity is strength” to come up with a system which will not only enable the members to quickly get into their houses, but also help them earn a profit while they wait their turn!!! It is very possible for every member who joins to get into their house within 5 years of joining. Long story short: The organization is a registered limited liability company. The members are its shareholders, and people own shares depending on their contribution (there is a minimum contribution). The money is then used to buy houses for members in the order that they joined the organization. Day-to-day running of the organization is done by 10 people who will be selected by way of voting. Expenses are kept to a minimum to ensure that the money is ONLY used to buy houses and not to end up in people's pockets. Finally, member are free to leave at any time (with all their money, less their share of expenses), with only a one month notice. The organization, and all of its rules are not set in stone. The only UNCHANGEABLE RULE is that the organization was formed to provide houses to its members. The rules are open to changes from its members at any time. The managers of the organization are selected by the members, and they serve at the pleasure of the members. No one has greater privilege, even the founders. So, ideas and questions are always welcome to help in building trust, accountability, and to enable members to get into their house in the shortest time that is possible. The Right to Housing is a BASIC human right. And renting is not owning. Regards,
