Secure in Christ
Luke 8:21-25
Introduction.
One of the basic needs of the human being is security, especially when today's environment is marked by violence, theft, danger, unemployment, and other things. In the present, there are endless storms that attack the life of man. These can be: internal, mental, physical, family, financial, labor, and all kinds. What to do against the storms of life? E `
The first thing we do when we face storms of life is;
1. Be sure that what we do is within the will of God.
a. The lord told them: to get on the boat
b. The lord said to them: Let us pass to the other side.
c. They obeyed the lord.
• Dear brothers and sisters, it is of vital importance that in everything we do we obey the voice of the Lord.
• The guarantee of getting out alive from the storm of life is in following God’s plan.

2. To face the storms of life, we need the presence of Jesus in our boat(life)
a. Jesus entered the boat in which they would sail.( V. 22)
b. Jesus rested peacefully in the boat (v. 23)
c. The presence of the Lord should give us peace, tranquility and rest knowing that everything is under his control.

3. It is necessary to be aware that the presence of the Lord in our lives doesn’t exempt us from the reality of storms.
a. While they were sailing, the Lord slept in the boat and a wind storm broke out on the lake and they were drowned, they were in danger.
b. The fact that Jesus was with them did not prevent them from the storms.
c. You know why I bring this up, because there are Christians who do not understand why they go through challenges, and yet they are children of God.
d. The storms of life are only an opportunity for God to glorify Himself.
4. What we can do against the storms of life is to call on the name of the Lord.
a. Verse 24 says, ‘and they came to Him,’ this is better than we can do, ‘draw near to the LORD.
b. After coming to Him, they cried out saying; master, master, we are perishing’
c. The bible says, " Call to me, and I will answer you’ (jer . 33. 3)
d. He will calm the storm, He will rebuke the wind, He will give us calmness. Just cry out.
5. The Lord expects faith from us. To get through difficult moments in life, we need to demonstrate faith.
a. Faith attracts the presence of God.
b. Faith attracts the will of God in our lives.
c. Faith affirms our relationship with our father.

The Shepherd’s Promise

Psalm 23 is a poem about God as our Shepherd. It’s all about how God knows what's best for us. He knows who we are and the paths we should walk in life. Because He is our Shepherd, He also is our Protector—guarding us from evil.

At the end of Psalm 23, there is a promise for us...

"Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
Psalms 23:6 NIV

What does it mean that God’s goodness and love will follow us?

It doesn’t mean that life will go according to our plans. It also doesn’t mean life will be free of pain and problems. Psalm 23:4 tells us that we will still have to walk through dark valleys.

Here’s what it does mean: God will always be with us. God will always be good to us. Life may not always be easy, but God promises to always be good.

It also means that nothing can take God’s love from us. God’s love will always be there, just like Paul says in Romans 8:38-39. We don’t have to fear disappointing God or losing Him. He promises never to take His love and goodness away from us.

Because of these truths, the writer of this Psalm says that his desire is to be with God in God’s house forever. We ought to desire the same thing as well. It’s because of God’s goodness and love that we will one day join Him in heaven to be with Him forever.

Take some time today to consider God as your Shepherd, who cares for you and protects you. Thank Him that His goodness and love will never end but will follow you every day of your life. Shalom

Called according to His purpose.
Roman 8:28.
1. For those He loves , he called....there is a purpose in every call. Not in vain that you are in that church. Not in vain that you are in that marriage. Discover your purpose in jesus name.

2. By discovering your purpose, you are able to discover your identity in the kingdom. You become free to the right associetes.
You build a new spiritual environment that will sustain your spiritual momentum.

3. Sometimes the purpose might be you becoming a helper to those persecuted you. Genesis 50:22. Joseph became a saviour to his family even though they sold him. The persecution moved him from the land where calamity was awaiting to a place of glorification.

*TODAY'S PRAYER*

Father God, I thank You for the gift of 2026. I receive grace to understand my purpose and walk in it fully. Help me to break old habits, wrong mindsets, and weak foundations. Create in me a new heart and a right spirit. Strengthen my faith and character. I choose to be a new person in 2026 and to live the life You designed for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
