Did You Know? 🤔...
The parcel of land currently known as Roysambu, which is a commercial and residential suburb, was originally leased to a man of Australian decent named Henry Herbert Tarlton in 1904?
This is according to The National Lands Commission (NLC) report, tabled in Parliament in 2019.
Henry turned the land which then, measured around, get this...💭 4,443 acres! to a sort of open air zoo, he had a livestock farm and time to time, game hunting used to take place on the massive land!
He called the land "Roysambu Estate" which is believed to derive from the maasai name"Soit Sambu"or "Soysambu" which means a place of striated rocks! (Wikipedia).
Tarlton passed on in 1932 while fishing at a dam in Ruiru, in the edges of his expansive farm.😢
That's when our beloved brother's...The Kamau's, Njenga's, Njoroge's....mugunda(plot) maguta... Maguta.. 😂 In conjunction with the regime at the time(KANU),gradually sub-divided the land over time... That was in the 1980s!!!
💥Roysambu covers an Area of 11.5km²(4.4sq mi)
