As a passionate young professional, I have opted to add onto my school taught knowledge and look for practical skills, which will propel my career path to the next level. Throughout my university experience, I have worked at Costwise Electricals Ltd. on a part time basis, an SME in the electrical supplies industry. It has been a journey of hard work, perseverance and commitment. As a result, I have worked different roles in the company, which has enabled me to have a high learning agility, with a positive mindset. I am passionate about helping SMEs grow, and coming up with strategies to differentiate the business, thereby promoting growth. Consequently, I have had to develop critical thinking skills, as well as an innovative mindset, in order to identify opportunities in the external environment as well as in the companyβs business model, which would help the company advance to the next level. This practical experience has allowed me to gain considerable exposure and experience when it comes to how the SME sector in Kenya is like, and what it takes to succeed in such an environment. My goal is to gather a great deal of knowledge, skills and experience so as to eventually help other SMEs in the country to tackle these challenges and grow, which in turn will lead to accelerated economic growth in Kenya and Africa as a whole.
