HELP GIFT FYONA ANOTHER CHANCE AT LIFE
Fyona Wanjiku Kabitta’s story is one of extraordinary courage, resilience, and an unrelenting fight for survival.
At just two months old, Fyona survived tuberculosis. By the age of six, she was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. In 2011, at only seven years old, she became Kenya’s youngest kidney transplant recipient, receiving a kidney from her father, Walter Kabitta.
Despite this milestone, Fyona’s journey remained medically complex. In 2019, she was diagnosed in India with a highly sensitised condition, significantly complicating transplant options. The same year, her family suffered a devastating loss when her mother passed away from a heart attack linked to prolonged emotional stress.
A second kidney transplant in 2020 brought temporary relief, but severe complications followed. In June 2022, doctors were forced to remove the transplanted kidney to save her life. Fyona is now living without any kidney, dependent on dialysis and managing life-threatening complications including heart issues, infections, high blood pressure, bone deterioration, and severe weight loss.
After extended treatment in India, financial constraints forced Fyona’s return to Kenya in December 2025.
Her situation has been widely covered by Citizen TV and national newspapers, drawing attention to her urgent need for support.
We are appealing to well-wishers, organisations, and the general public to come together and help Fyona access life-saving care and prepare for a possible third transplant.
