On August 4th, a horrific explosion at the port of Beirut, Lebanon, killed over 170 people, injured over 5000 and displaced more than 300.000. This tragedy that hit the heart of Beirut has left a deep wound in a country already suffering from the worst economic crisis in its recent history. The people of Beirut have suffered horrendous losses; many lost family members, their homes or livelihoods. Many need our help.
I am hosting my first online cooking class on Sunday August 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. EST | 6 p.m. CET, to raise money for Beit el Baraka, a None-Governmental (NGO), Nonprofit charity Organization based in Beirut.
Why Beit el Baraka?
The house of blessings, as its name implies in Arabic, has been originally supporting Lebanese families and retirees with their basic needs and rights. Their initial mission has been to ensure a sense of dignity to hard-working citizens once they retire by assisting them with their daily struggle to make ends meet.
After the tragedy of August 4, they expanded their mission to serve devastated families by galvanizing a large team of volunteers to provide food and medical support, and help in repairing homes in the affected neighborhoods close to the port.
How to donate and register for the course:
A minimum donation of US$20 per person is kindly required to participate. Please donate directly on Beit el Baraka’s website: https://www.beitelbaraka.org/
Once you have donated send an email to [email protected] to register for the course. You will then receive the details for the zoom cooking class as well as the recipes if you would like to cook along with me.
Thank you for your support!
