We had the opportunity to see some timber slabs on our last tour to one of our supplier's sawmill... that thick, wide, and flat piece of wood cut straight from a tree log showing the natural, unshaped outer tree edges are really good for the top of large dining tables, coffee tables, desks and home fixtures like kitchen countertops, bar tops, and floating wall shelves.

Tongue and groove boards have a protruding edge (tongue) that fits snugly into a matching slot (groove) on the other board. The planks lock tightly with no gaps to create a seamless, interlocking surface. These boards are used frequently for flooring, ceigs, and wall paneling.

It is good to collaborate with lumber suppliers. We were on tour at a modern sawmill: witness behind the scenes transformation of raw tree logs into finished, usable lumber through a highly mechanized and precise industrial processes.

We had a visual journey inside the processing facility to see the scale of modern operations: from arrival and uploading, debarking, sorting, scaling, cutting, optimizing, kiln drying, planing, grading through to packaging.

A hardwood pool surround adds natural warmth and a barefoot-friendly surface.

A pool surround made from greenheart is a great choice since this dense tropical hardwood is rot resistant, handles constant water exposure, and stays cooler on bare feet than composite or concrete.

This customer used greenheart lumber boards to create a barrier wall as well.
