Sri Lanka does not have regulations government registration, it's under process yet.
However, basic qualifications are essential for any high proficiency job.
Basic qualification: O/Levels or A/ Levels
Basic higher academic qualifications: a degree or master's degree from a recognised university
Preferred professional qualifications: A Postgraduate Diploma in Real Estate Management and Valuation (PG Dip in REMV) or a Master of Science Degree in Real Estate Management and Valuation (M.Sc. in REMV
Related work experience: While work experience may not be necessary for beginners, having 2-3 years of experience in fields that are at least related, such as sales, marketing or the insurance field will definitely give you an advantage.
The standard commission payable by the sellers is 3 percent of the deal price in case of residential properties.
Sri lankan brokers Do Not charge upfront fees from landowners, and Do Not charge fees from the buyer!
The only additional charges that an agent may request for is to advertise the property in the national papers. This would be a matter of mutual consent agreement between the seller and the agent.
