Dubai International Airport sustained minor damage and four people were injured after Iranian strikes hit parts of the emirate, authorities said Saturday, as Tehran launched attacks across the region in retaliation for what it described as a “massive” ongoing assault by the United States and Israel.
The Dubai Media Office said a concourse at Dubai International Airport was damaged in an incident that was “quickly contained.”
“Dubai Airports confirms that a concourse at Dubai International (DXB) sustained minor damage in an incident, which was quickly contained,” the office said in a statement posted on X.
Four people were injured and received medical attention, authorities said, adding that contingency plans had already been activated and most airport terminals had been cleared of passengers.
Separately, video verified by the BBC showed a fire at the Fairmont The Palm hotel, a luxury property located in the Palm Jumeirah area. Thick black smoke could be seen rising into the sky.
Dubai authorities said four people were injured in a blaze at a building in Palm Jumeirah and that the fire had been brought under control. Officials did not provide further details on the cause of the fire or confirm whether it was directly linked to the strikes.
