A CALL TO ACTION FOR INTERNATIONAL
AND GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION
Montserrado-Liberia-November 17
Liberia is facing a severe humanitarian crisis, with millions of people struggling to access basic necessities like food, clean water, sanitation, healthcare, and education. The situation is dire, and immediate action is needed from the international community, the Government of Liberia, and local authorities.
The crisis is having a devastating impact on the country. Many Liberians are living in poverty, with limited access to quality education and healthcare. The economy is unstable, and human rights are being disproportionately affected, especially for women, children, and persons with disabilities.
The root causes of the crisis are complex, but they include Liberia's history of civil war and instability, corruption, climate change, and lack of investment in human capital and infrastructure.
We urge the international community to increase humanitarian funding and assistance to Liberia, support sustainable development projects, and provide technical assistance to strengthen Liberia's institutions. The Government of Liberia should prioritize poverty reduction, education, and healthcare in national policies and budget allocations, while local authorities should strengthen community-led initiatives and promote inclusive decision-making processes.
There are success stories in Liberia, including community-led initiatives, innovative solutions, and youth empowerment programs. We recommend increasing funding, supporting sustainable development, providing capacity-building support, and promoting inclusive decision-making processes.
The humanitarian crisis in Liberia demands immediate attention and collective action. Together, we can create a brighter future for Liberia by breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality, unlocking the country's potential for economic growth and development, and ensuring human dignity and well-being for all Liberians.
