Since the Civil Service guys are bringing colour back to the street lamps and benches…

👉 I’d like to officially announce that I’m now recruiting brave volunteers to help restore my house! 😅

Because builders, electricians, and plumbers have officially become mythical creatures. You summon them, they say “Yes yes, I’ll come tomorrow,” and then vanish like legendary Pokémon. 🫠

I’ve been on a shopping trip to Marrakesh and can’t wait to see all my goodies in Casa Violetta!

Now I just need to pack it in my suitcase and get it home! Literally packing the bathroom sink!!

I just need to give a massive shout-out to my estate agent Sebastiano from Immobiliare Minoa 👏

This absolute gem of a man went to the house and originally left the keys in a safe spot so George could access it anytime. It’s been quietly worrying me that the keys were there and anyone could stumble upon them.

Well… when I rang him today to check whether he knew if the builder had met a tragic and mysterious end, he casually told me that he had passed by the house, noticed the keys were still there, and quietly took them home with him to keep the property safe.

Honestly. WHAT A LEGEND.

He also confirmed that the builder is, in fact, still breathing and has promised that when he next sees him to and tell him to pull up his big girl pants and call me. Those exact words were mine — he’ll obviously translate them into a more manly Sicilian version 🇮🇹😄

Faith in humanity restored.

It’s the final count down to when work will start. Or it would be if I had a day I could count down to 🤣

The electrician was supposed to check that it’s safe to turn on the electricity this week, but he was a no show. I am not worried, I know he will show up, eventually.

I’m at a bit of a crossroads with the upstairs terrace and could really use some advice! Inside, everything is going to be soft and subtle, but I want the terrace to be a little quirky and fun.

This is where the BBQ is going, along with a dinning table and chairs plus a sofa seating area. I can already picture long lunches, laughter, and cool evenings watching the sun set from up here.

But… the tiles! I need to order them today and I’m torn between three options. Option A , Option B or Option C? The terrace measures 7.50 mt x 2.50 mt.

Which way would you go? Do I keep it subtle to complement the sand-colored interiors, or do I let the terrace really pop and be the fun, quirky heart of the house?

I am super excited to announce work will start on the house next week, or maybe the week after, but absolutely positive it will be in the month of November!

First job getting this terrace water tight! Now I just need to buy the replacement tiles!
