Before installing the structural timber for the second floor, every wooden element is carefully treated with a high-quality preservative that helps protect it against moisture, fungi, insects, and termites. Long-lasting structures begin with proper preparation.

And yes… sometimes the best work uniform is simply Factor 50. 😄

Today we’re delivering the scaffolding that will surround the house throughout the renovation process. It’s the first major step before transforming the exterior with a new façade, detailed restoration work, and a completely refreshed appearance.

🏡 Project MATIO – Bulgaria

Another important milestone has been completed.

The new structural timber frame for the future second floor is now taking shape. Massive laminated wooden pillars, each weighing approximately 130 kg, have been carefully installed to support the new extension.

Every element has its purpose. Every connection has been engineered to transfer loads safely and create a structure that will stand for generations.

Project MATIO is more than a renovation. It is the combination of traditional construction with modern structural engineering and SIP panel technology.

Step by step, we’re giving this old house a completely new future.

🏡 Project MATIO – Bulgaria

Every old house has a story hidden behind its walls.

When we opened the structure of this house, we discovered that several of the main supporting wooden pillars had been severely damaged by moisture and rot after decades without proper protection.

What made this project particularly challenging was the load above. The second floor and roof structure placed approximately 7 tons of weight on this corner of the building.

To safely carry out the repairs, we first installed a system of temporary steel supports to transfer the load and stabilize the structure.

Only then could we carefully remove the damaged pillars and replace them with new structural elements.

Projects like this remind us that renovation is not only about improving a building’s appearance. It is about restoring its strength, safety, and future.

The transformation continues.

🏡 Project MATIO – Bulgaria

Every renovation tells a story.

As we opened the exterior walls of this traditional house and removed the old infill materials, we finally revealed the original timber structure hidden inside for decades.

Unfortunately, the findings were not what we hoped for.

Many of the supporting wooden pillars had suffered severe damage from moisture. The reason was simple: the timber was placed directly against the concrete foundation without adequate protection. Over the years, humidity traveled from the concrete into the wood, causing extensive rot.

Before moving forward, safety came first.

We installed a system of temporary steel supports to carry the load of the building. The house is now standing securely while we carefully replace every damaged structural pillar with new elements designed for long-term durability.

Projects like MATIO remind us that renovation is not only about creating something new. It is also about understanding the mistakes of the past and rebuilding the right way for the future.

Sometimes, renovation becomes discovery.

In our MATIO Project in Bulgaria, we started connecting an old traditional house with a brand-new SIP panel extension built with modern modular technology.

As we began opening the old walls, something incredible appeared hidden inside the structure — a massive original stone wall.
A real piece of history.

Instead of covering it, we decided to keep it exposed and integrate it directly into the future interior design.

The most interesting part?
The newly opened spaces between the old and new sections will remain visually connected, creating one large open living area where traditional architecture meets modern construction.

This is what makes renovation exciting — you never know what kind of treasure is hidden behind the walls.
