Job Description (Overview)

Oversee and coordinate MEP design activities, leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate ACMV, PSG, FPS, electrical, and ELV system designs. Job Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
* Attend Design Coordination Meetings and weekly Internal Design Department Meetings to stay informed about project status and design-related issues.
* Lead the MEP design team in an individual project, providing guidance and required data to team members assigned as project leaders, ensuring they meet deadlines and deliver high-quality designs.
* Calculate the total cooling load for ACMV (Air Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation), total water consumption for PSG (Plumbing, Sanitary and Gas), total water storage requirements, and water flow rate, pump head for FPS (Fire Protection Systems).
* Assist to prepare payment submission.
* Calculate total power consumption for the project and select appropriate transformers, power generators, and other necessary electrical equipment and accessories. Create electrical single line diagrams, panel layouts, power and lighting plans, and lighting fixture schedules.
* Produce required schematic diagrams and equipment schedules for mechanical services, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
* Create layouts and detail drawings for ACMV, PSG, FPS, electrical (ELE), and extra-low voltage (ELV) systems. These include plans for air-conditioning, mechanical ventilation, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection, electrical distribution, and low-voltage communication systems.
* Produce equipment schedules, single line diagrams, and layouts for ELV systems (FA, PA, PABX, CCTV and Network) ensuring proper integration with other building services.
* Collaborate with the Procurement and QS (Quantity Surveyor) teams for the selection and approval of materials, ensuring they meet design and project requirements.
* Liaise with MEP consultants, suppliers, and contractors to ensure that designs are implemented effectively and align with project objectives.
* Coordinate with the Architectural Design team and Site Management to resolve any MEP-related design problems during the project.
* Review and approve as-built drawings submitted by contractors, ensuring they accurately reflect the completed work.
* Consolidate all necessary documents and drawings for the handover process to clients, ensuring that all MEP systems are correctly installed and operational.
* Ensure that all proposed design drawings comply with the company’s Design Handbook and industry standards.

• Create detailed drawings for architectural elements such as ceilings, floors, walls, doors, and windows. Prepare detailed drawings for furniture (counters, displays, etc.) and interior decorations as required.
• Assist the Senior Designer in reviewing and coordinating structural drawings (footings, ground beams, columns, roofs, canopies) to ensure alignment with architectural layouts.
• Liaise with the Quantity Surveyor (QS) and Procurement teams to assist in requisitioning materials based on design requirements.
• Work closely with Retail Design, M&E Design, and Site Management teams to resolve any design-related issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
• Ensure all proposed design drawings conform to the company's Design Handbook standards and comply with industry regulations.

Skills & Qualifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Design, Engineering in related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in architectural design, preferably in retail or commercial projects.
• Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max).
• Strong understanding of architectural design principles and drafting techniques.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate with different departments such as QS, Procurement, and M&E Design.
• Good problem-solving skills to handle design-related issues during the project.
• Familiarity with local building codes and submission processes for regulatory authorities.
