A welcome new addition to the restaurant scene in our village: 'Za'atar' (which means 'Thyme') is the first Lebanese - Maltese fusion resturant - and it works! Fabulous food, gorgeous views from the front (it's next to the church) and the back (overlooking fields and the domed church in the next village) and is run by a lovely husband and wife team. If you're visiting The Gozo House, do give it a try.

Proud of myself for managing to replace the rungs on the pool ladder all on my own, though there was a moment when I wasn't quite sure I'd be able to fit all the bits back together. Instead of narrow rungs, we now have deeper, staggered steps into the pool - and they haven't collapsed under anyone - yet! Thanks to the joint efforts of the Makepeace family for their accurate measuring which allowed me to buy the new rungs in the UK and bring them across in my hand luggage...

I've up-cycled this old wardrobe (bought off facebay gozo) repainted with a warm sandy colour to match the floor tiles and now filled with all the outdoor stuff; snorkels and masks, cushions, pool inflatables and garden toys. The 'Big Green Bag' is no more (IYKYK) and the old black chest now houses the cushions for the steamer chairs on the roof terrace. I scoured Gozo to find a key for the the original lock, and have fixed it with a cord so it can't by lost by any Jonny or Jane* in their haste to get to the pool toys!

I've had a few people ask what the weather is like in Gozo in the Autumn. It's usually warm and sunny, around 22 - 28c most days. There will be a little rain, which is often intense, but short lived. The sea is at it's warmest through October and November and any jellyfish will mostly have disappeared. The first autumn rain turns the landscape lush and picturesque. Restaurants and bars will all be open, though it is a quieter time of year for tourists. It's a great time to visit, especially if you enjoy walking and sight-seeing when the heat is less intense. Our house has availability from 20th October onwards if you fancy re-charging your batteries before Christmas.

If you're still looking for a last minute getaway during the school holidays, we have limited availability in July and August. The house has 3 bedrooms/3 bathrooms and sleeps up to 7. All bedrooms have air-conditioning and there are ceiling fans in all other rooms. We only let to family and friends (and friends-of-friends) so please get in touch if you like to check availability and mates rates.
