💡 [Hidden History] A very unusual view indeed, Gozo had a 20m tall saltwater GEYSER in the mid-1700s, the unintentional and destructive side effect [on neighbouring, cultivated fields] of the failed Clockmaker's Saltworks enterprise at Wied il-Ghasri. • It would erupt when stormy seas pushed into an underlying CAVE and rush upwards through a SHAFT that had been cut to haul water for a field of saltpans. • This later depiction was published in Frederic Lacroix' *Malte et le Goze*, in a multi-volume geographical work in 1848 Paris.
