Perhaps one of Gozo’s most recognisable landmarks, Is-Salvatur can be spotted from many different parts of the island, standing high above the countryside on Tal-Merżuq Hill ✨

Its story goes back more than a century. A wooden cross was erected on the hill in 1901, before being replaced by a statue of Christ in 1904. That statue eventually suffered from years of exposure to the elements, while its successor, erected in 1960, was later badly damaged during a thunderstorm. The figure we see today dates from the late 1970s and depicts the Risen Christ with arms outstretched.

It is indeed a distinctive part of Gozo’s skyline and one of those landmarks you’ll find yourself spotting again and again as you explore the island 😊

A calm summer morning in Xlendi Bay 💙🌊

Standing watch over the entrance to the bay is Xlendi Tower, built in the 17th century to protect this part of Gozo’s coastline. Today, it forms part of one of Xlendi’s most recognisable views, particularly on days like this when the sea is beautifully calm and there’s barely a ripple on the water.

Whether you come for a swim, a walk along the coast or simply to spend a few hours by the sea, Xlendi is always worth a visit during your holiday in Gozo 😊

Did you know that one of Gozo’s most fascinating archaeological sites lies around 110 metres below the Mediterranean? 🌊🤿

Hidden beneath the waters of Xlendi Bay, the Xlendi Underwater Archaeological Park covers some 67,000 square metres and is home to a remarkable concentration of ancient artefacts, predominantly amphorae, offering a glimpse into Gozo’s role in Mediterranean maritime history.

And with the Xlendi Shipwreck Festival taking place this Friday and Saturday, 21 and 22 August, there couldn’t be a better time to discover the story beneath the surface.

Sunsets are there to be enjoyed, and when you’re on holiday in Gozo, make sure you find time to watch one every day 🌅💛

This beautiful photo was captured at Ta’ Ċenċ, but there are plenty of other wonderful spots around the island to watch the sun go down. Head to the Sanap Cliffs, find a spot by the sea in Xlendi Bay, or spend the evening at Dwejra Bay as the last light disappears over the horizon.

A different view each evening, and a lovely way to end another day of your Gozo holiday 😊

There are views in that make you want to stop for a moment and simply take it all in 💙🌊

This is San Blas, where the terraced fields of the fertile valley lead all the way down towards a small sandy bay on Gozo’s north-eastern coast. The beach is reached by a steep path, which has helped it remain one of the island’s quieter and more secluded swimming spots.

And on a beautiful summer day when the Mediterranean is this calm, the view from above is every bit as lovely as the bay itself ☀️

We are right in the heart of summer now, and with it comes one of Gozo’s most anticipated festa celebrations 🇲🇹🎆

Over the next few days, Victoria will celebrate the Feast of Santa Marija, centred around the Gozo Cathedral and spreading into the surrounding streets with decorations, band marches, religious celebrations and the unmistakable atmosphere of festa week.

Santa Marija, celebrated on 15th August, is one of the most important dates in the Maltese islands, and in Gozo the celebrations come to a spectacular close with the grand fireworks display lighting up the night sky above Victoria and the Cittadella ✨
