There is no malaria in Mauritius. No tablets needed. But there are two mosquito-borne illnesses worth knowing about before you pack:

🔴 Chikungunya — there is an active outbreak in 2026 with over 3,300 confirmed cases, and the CDC has issued a formal travel health notice for the island
🟡 Dengue fever — a year-round risk across the island, particularly in urban areas

The good news: both are preventable with the right preparation, and neither should put you off visiting. Mauritius remains a safe and beautiful destination.
