Have you visited Isla Mujeres?
In pre-Hispanic times the island was consecrated to Ixchel, Mayan goddess of the Moon, love, and fertility. As a sanctuary dedicated to Ixchel, Mayan women had to make the pilgrimage to the island as part of their translation from girl to woman.

Today the island is a tourist heaven with beautiful beaches, restaurants and shopping. If you visit, be sure to visit the south point of the island to explore and learn about the Mayan ruins and history of island.
