Luis Bulnes Molleda, was born on August 25, 1928, in Spain, from where he emigrated to Mexico when he was very young; Luis Bulnes is a native of the Council of Ribadesella, in Asturias, Spain. At the age of 18, he was invited by friends to come to Mexico to work. A young entrepreneur who set a goal to make a business career in Mexico that he started in the Pando companies.
Founder of one of the most important hotels in the country and one of the managers of the great tourist destination that is today Los Cabos, the businessman was also a visionary in the conservation of natural resources.
In 1946 he arrives to Mexico City. In 1948 he married Doña Concepción Malo de Bulnes. On September 12, 1955, he arrived to Mexico and began working for Don Ch Antonio Llano at Pinturas Atlas, as general manager.
Later, Don Antonio himself invited him to work in a representative company of an American pharmaceutical throughout the Mexican Pacific coast. There he begins his relationship with Don Elías Pando, the latter being a partner in the company.
In a short time, Don Elías Pando asks him to help him receive cinnamon in Mexico at the Pando Companies in Ensenada. Later, he gives him the task of managing the packing plant in Cabo San Lucas. They sent him to dismantle it, but when he arrived on September 13, 1955, he did so accompanied by his wife, Doña Concepción Malo de Bulnes, and upon learning about the packing plant, he did not see much of a future for it. However, encouraged by Doña Conchita, they began an arduous reconstruction of the packing plant to bring it back to success.
There, in the only tuna packer that existed then in all of Latin America, which was also founded in 1927, they began their business career.
In 1964 Don Luis Bulnes decided to become independent and in 1965 the construction of the Hotel Finisterra began, continuing with the construction of the Hotel Solmar.
In the 1980s, he managed to create the largest fleet of sport fishing boats in the entire American continent. Organizes the Union of Sport Fishing Boat Owners.
In 1993, it established the Foundation for the Conservation of Billfish with the intention of monitoring and regulating the use of fishing resources of tourist-sport interest.
At the same time, he ventures into timeshare and builds the Hotel Playa Grande. It achieves very significant changes in more than 12 laws and regulations for the development of sport fishing in the country.
Starting in 2001, he actively participates in securing dock space for all local sport fishing fleets, fighting interests outside the destination. Later, he decides to sell the Solmar fleet to his own employees at very affordable prices and with the greatest facilities.
Don Luis was also a founding member of many business organizations such as the Coordinating Council of Los Cabos, the National Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of the Restaurant Industry, the Chamber of the Transformation Industry and participated in multiple social actions, among them, being President of the Firefighters Board, obtained equipment, ambulances and above all the training program that was awarded as the best in Mexico by the President of the Republic himself.
Don Luis Bulnes Molleda: he was an invincible, tireless man with a brilliant mind, a sower who planted friendships and reaped sincere affection along the way: His faith, his affection for the people of Los Cabos, his tenacity for being a successful businessman and with a heart that allowed him to share what he had with the least favored made him a man loved by those of us who knew him closely.
