Design your house in four steps. STEP 4
Moving the architectural plans to digital format.

In this last step you can use one of the free online applications to make architectural plans. If this step is more than you wish to try, our in-house designer can do this for you. Complete the plan of the house by adding the necessary equipment, such as furniture, tables, beds; in the kitchen the sink, stove and refrigerator locations; in the bathrooms the sanitary equipment plus all the accessories that are necessary for your new home.

Design your house in four steps. STEP 3 Make a sketch of house design with the distribution of the rooms.

It is preferable to use a large sheet of graph paper or make one with a ruler; if you do not have a scale it does not matter, you can use a common ruler, remember that one centimeter is one meter.

This design process should be done by hand, as if you were making a drawing. Do not rush, you will surely use several sheets before getting the house design you want.

The drawing of the architectural plans on paper is the penultimate step in your learning how to design houses. We will address this in STEP 4.

Zoning the rooms of the house

Zoning of the house allows us to label the functions of the rooms and to be sure the environment for which it was designed is met. We can divide the zones into three groups:

Social area: that includes the living room, the dining room (or other shared areas of the house)
Private or intimate area: bedrooms and bathrooms.
Service area: include the kitchen, laundry and utility areas.

draw up a needs table

It is important to determine your needs, both present and future. You should ask these questions: How many bedrooms do I need now? Will I need another in the future? Do I like to have company or do I enjoy my solitude? The answer to these questions will tell you what size living room or terrace you need.
Do I plan to build a second floor later? Does my lot allow designing on all four fronts or is it a lot that limits my visuals to one side only? Answer all of these questions to create a picture of needs.

From your answers we may have the following table of needs:

1 master bedroom with bathroom and a closet.
2 guest bedrooms with closets.
1 full bathroom for the guest bedrooms to share.
1 kitchen connected to dining and living areas.
Powder room for the living area.
1 terrace.
1 patio.

How many cushions should the couch have?

Not too many or too few. It’s ideal to have one more than the number of seats that the sofa has. That is, if the sofa has four seats, then five cushions will be enough.

What to consider when furnishing your home.

A neutral color for large pieces of furniture is a good option when furnishing your home. Use brighter colors for the cushions, paintings and carpets. Colorful, small accessories will stand out in the background and give personality to your home.

As the construction phase of this mega project comes to completion, we move forward with the interior design part. In combination with elements provided by us, our clients brought with them many treasures and one of a kind pieces of art and furniture that helped turn this home into a unique and luxurious haven. We are totally in awe of the transformation and final project, we hope you enjoy the photos as much as we do!

The project: take a 40 year old building and completely rehabilitate it. This was a professional challenge for us and our team. Our clients began with a 3 story apartment building + roof top, and gave us the task of creating a family home with the liveable and usable spaces divided up between the different levels. Our first step after creating a design not only for the facade but the entire interior of the building was to completly demolish the inside on each level. We removed all of the gas lines and components and transformed the building to only electric. 3 New bedrooms, 3 new bathrooms, new windows, all new finishes, custom kitchen and BBQ area, structural balcony extensions and a new stairwell to access the incredible roof top garden and lounge area with spectaular ocean views. It took us less than 1 year to complete this project and our clients could not be happier. Join us through the journey and experience of this project, please enjoy our photos.
