Touring Guadalajara and San Miguel De Allende, Mexico, before heading off to Lisbon, Portugal. The Guadalajara Cathedral is truly an impressive sight!

A few Fun Facts:

- construction began in 1561
• It was completed in 1618
• Commissioned by King Philip II of Spain.

• It suffered extensive damage from earthquakes.

• Its famous yellow neo-Gothic spires were added in the 19th century after the original towers collapsed.

The cathedral reflects centuries of reconstruction, so its architecture combines various styles. Architecture and Design

The cathedral is primarily in the Spanish Renaissance style, but you'll notice:

• Gothic-inspired spires (its most recognizable feature)
• Baroque and Neoclassical interior elements
• Ornate altars and religious artwork
• A beautiful main dome above the altar

Inside, it's more understated than many Mexican cathedrals, giving it a serene atmosphere.
