The yuan is a fairly stable currency. The Chinese currency can be seen as an alternative to the previously popular money of developed countries. In recent years, inflation in yuan has been in the range of 1-5.5%, and this year it is within 3% (much better than in the US and EU). Since 2010, the yuan has fluctuated moderately against the dollar: within 19%, periodically strengthening and then weakening. The yuan is a restricted market currency as the exchange rate is regulated by the People's Bank of China.
