Air Canada has announced the launch of a new direct Toronto–Mérida route as part of its Winter 2026–2027 schedule—an important milestone that further strengthens Yucatán’s connectivity with the Canadian market and reinforces the sustained growth of Mérida International Airport.
According to the Secretaría de Fomento Turístico de Yucatán, the route will operate from November 21, 2026, through April 17, 2027, with twice-weekly flights on Mondays and Saturdays, directly targeting peak seasonal demand from Canadian travelers.
From an investment standpoint, this expansion is highly strategic. Canada represents one of the most stable and high-value outbound tourism markets, particularly in the winter season. Improved direct access not only increases tourism flow, but also enhances Mérida’s positioning as a second-home and relocation destination for North American buyers.
This initiative reflects strong confidence from the aviation sector and aligns with the economic and tourism development strategy led by Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena, focused on attracting foreign investment and strengthening international demand.
