THE SITUATION IN SONORA— WHAT WE KNOW

Following isolated incidents tied to a federal law enforcement operation in the state of Jalisco (1,765 km from Puerto Penasco), some localized disturbances occurred across several Mexican states.
All airports and ports of entry in Sonora are operating normally. No flights or ports of entry have been canceled. Any delays are weather-related, originating in the United States.
Schools, transport, and tourism infrastructure are fully operational. Local bus and shuttle companies are running business as usual.
More than 2,000 federal, state, and municipal security personnel have been deployed across the state as a precautionary measure.
Many images and videos circulating on social media — including a photo of a "burning airplane" — have been confirmed as fabricated or AI-generated. Please rely only on verified sources.
