Don't be surprised if you go to town for some tacos and find yourself in the middle of festivities no matter what time of year it is.

Apparently there is an international dance festival happening this week and many countries and Mexican states are represented.

It was certainly an interesting week to be in Puerto Vallarta. Luckily Casa de Rada was nowhere near any of the violence but close enough to see smoke from fires in town.

If you believe the US news you probably have taken Mexico off your list of places to visit. If you believe the local government, nothing to worry about. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

Although Puerto Vallarta did see some violence Sunday morning it was over in a matter of hours. Things were mostly back to normal Monday. Some specific corporate stores(OXXO and Kiosko) were burned while the locally owned ones were untouched. Citizens were removed from cars and busses before burning some of those also. Cartel members intentionally did not harm locals or tourists.

Having been in town multiple times this past week it is hard to tell anything happened other than some burned stores. Some have actually reopened already. It's amazing how quickly locals moved on and life continues.

Wow! 27 degrees at home and 72 in Puerto Vallarta. Almost the same right?
