Puerto Vallarta has a quieter kind of beautiful.

Not everything here has to be loud, crowded, or full speed.

Sometimes it is the soft morning light over the bay.

The breeze after a hot day.

The mountains turning deep green after the rain.

The sound of waves while the city slowly wakes up.

That is one of the things I love most about living here.

Yes, Puerto Vallarta has energy, restaurants, beaches, nightlife, and plenty of fun.

But it also has these calm little moments….

Did you know Mexico has a household goods import program for people relocating here?

It is called Menaje de Casa, and yes, it can apply if you are moving to Puerto Vallarta because this is a Mexico customs program, not a local Puerto Vallarta rule.

In simple terms, Menaje de Casa may allow qualifying residents to bring used household belongings into Mexico without paying import taxes.

This can include things like:

Furniture
Clothing
Kitchen items
Linens
Appliances
Electronics
Personal household goods

But here is the important part.

It does not mean you can bring absolutely anything into Mexico tax free.

The items generally need to be used household goods, not new items for resale or commercial use. Vehicles are not included. There are also rules about timing, paperwork, immigration status, and how the inventory list is prepared.

For many people, this can be a great benefit when relocating to Mexico, but it is not something to wing. Mexican customs rules are specific, the paperwork is in Spanish, and mistakes can cause delays, taxes, or problems at the border.

Before shipping your household items to Puerto Vallarta, speak with a qualified customs broker, relocation specialist, or your Mexican consulate so you understand the current requirements.

One thing I really love about Puerto Vallarta is how welcoming it is to dogs.

You see them at beach restaurants, walking the Malecón, hanging out under tables at cafés, and basically living their best little Vallarta lives.

PV just feels like one of those places where dogs are part of the community.

Of course, the heat is real, so shade, water, and avoiding the hot pavement matter. But overall, this city really does make it easy to include your pets in daily life.

The first rains make PV feel alive again

Did you know the first rains in Puerto Vallarta completely change the city?

One day the mountains look dry and dusty, and then suddenly everything starts turning green again. The jungle wakes up, the air smells cleaner, the streets cool down, and the whole bay feels refreshed.

Yes, it is hot. Yes, it is humid. Yes, your hair may have its own personal plans.

The storms usually roll in later in the day, so you can still enjoy mornings, beach walks, breakfast outside, errands, and pool time before the dramatic evening rain comes through. Rainy season here is not usually gray-all-day weather. It is more like sunshine, heat, clouds building over the mountains, and then nature giving us a show.
