🌼 Janal Pixan is not just about Catrinas, flowers and beautiful decorations. It begins with memory.

On October 24, Puerto Morelos opened the first activities of Mar de Almas 2026.

We saw handcrafted Alebrijes and Catrinas, canoes along the fishermen’s wharf, local creativity and families coming together around a tradition that goes much deeper than what appears on camera. 🕯️

That’s what makes this season special.

You see the colors.

But behind them are stories.

And that’s where Janal Pixan really begins. 💛

🎉 Some months give you one reason to celebrate. Diana is giving us two.
Today is her birthday. 🎂❤️
And in just a few days, she'll also celebrate her first anniversary with Abbey del Sol.
Diana is originally from Tabasco, although Puerto Morelos has been part of her story for many years. 🌴
Almost a year ago, a new chapter began when she joined our housekeeping team.
And if you've met Diana during your stay, there's something you've probably noticed before anything else:
that smile. 😊
It's almost always there.
Whether she's preparing a property, working alongside the team or simply saying hello, Diana brings an energy that's difficult to miss.
Housekeeping requires attention, effort and a lot of work behind the scenes.
But Diana brings something else to it:
heart. 💙
So today we celebrate her birthday...
and very soon, we'll celebrate her first year with us too.

🌅 Most visitors know by the sea. This is the side many never stop to watch.
8:00 AM.
La Colonia.
The morning after a rainy day. 🌧️
The streets are still damp.
The sky is clearing.
And the whole neighborhood feels like it’s slowly waking up.
This side of Puerto Morelos isn’t about beach clubs or postcard views.
It’s where everyday life happens.
Where people open their shops.
Take their kids to school.
Head to work.
Start another ordinary morning.
And somehow, after the rain, even the ordinary feels beautiful.
Same Puerto Morelos. Different rhythm. 💙

Fernanda is one of the newest members of our housekeeping team at Abbey del Sol.
She comes from Chiapas, and even though her story with us is just beginning, she already brings something important to every room she prepares:
attention, care, and intention.
Because housekeeping isn’t only about making a bed or folding a towel.
It’s about noticing the little things.
Creating a space that feels ready.
And making sure that when a guest opens the door, they feel welcomed before anyone even says hello. 💙

🧳 The most important thing in a vacation rental might be the thing you hope you never need.
A guest once told us about a trip that didn't begin according to plan. Her flight was delayed by 48 hours. Two members of the family arrived in Puerto Morelos without them. Suddenly, the beautiful vacation home wasn't the biggest concern.
They needed someone local. Someone to help arrange transportation. Someone to make sure the travelers arrived safely, understood the property and knew what to do next. Our team stepped in.
💙 By the time the rest of the family finally arrived, the roles had reversed: the two who had arrived first were showing them around.

We thought about that story while filming this month's featured stay, Casa Catalina #2. You'll see the big windows. The balcony overlooking the pool. The kitchen. The short walk to the beach.
🌴 But there's something this Reel can't really show you: our team is just one block away. Because a vacation rental isn't only about where you stay when everything goes right. Sometimes, it's about knowing who you can call when it doesn't.
