Let’s talk about sargassum, the thing most Tulum feeds carefully crop out of frame.
It’s been a heavy year, no point pretending otherwise. But the response has caught up in a big way. This week the government put 2.6 billion pesos behind the biggest plan the coast has ever had, built around catching the seaweed offshore before it reaches the sand. And it helps to remember it’s seasonal, not permanent, far lighter on the jungle and cenote side where much of the market actually sits, and the seaweed that does get collected is even being turned into an industry.
You can now check the coast like a weather forecast too, howisthesargassum.com has a live map and a page just for Tulum.
The full picture’s in the slides, and the forecast link’s above. Swipe through.
