A small detail today can prevent a big headache at INM later. 🇲🇽

One thing I always remind my clients: what INM accepted two years ago—or what was accepted when you originally obtained your residency—doesn’t necessarily mean it will be accepted today.

Requirements, interpretations, and the way documents are reviewed can change over time.

One example I’m seeing more often involves name discrepancies between documents.

For example, if the name on your passport doesn’t exactly match the name appearing on your Mexican marriage certificate or birth certificate, you may run into questions or delays when dealing with INM.

And while a consular affidavit or similar document addressing a name variation may have been accepted in the past, you shouldn’t automatically assume that INM will accept it today.

That’s why I encourage my clients to look at these issues before their residency card is up for renewal, rather than waiting until they are standing at the INM office.

If you have time before your next renewal, it may be worth reviewing your passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, and Mexican immigration documents to make sure the names and information are consistent.

The goal isn’t to create unnecessary work—it’s to identify potential problems while you still have time to address them.

If you’re unsure whether a discrepancy in your documents could cause an issue with your next INM procedure, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to take a look and let you know what I would address ahead of time.

🇲🇽 **Thinking about moving to Mexico? Here's one mistake many people make...**

One of the biggest misconceptions is that you need to have every detail figured out before starting your residency process.

The reality is that every situation is different.

Your eligibility can depend on factors like:
✅ Your nationality
✅ Your income or savings
✅ Family ties in Mexico
✅ Whether you're applying through a Mexican consulate or from within Mexico
✅ Your long-term plans

Getting the right information early can save you time, money, and unnecessary stress later.

If you're considering making Mexico your home and aren't sure where to begin, we're always happy to help point you in the right direction.

At **Mexico Residency Support**, we believe an informed decision is the best first step.

Another happy ending at INM Guadalajara.

A few weeks ago, my client was considering canceling her regularization application because she was worried about summer travel.

We monitored her case carefully, kept everything up to date, and today we received the next notification. If all goes as expected, she'll soon complete biometrics and receive her residency card.

Every case is different, but having someone monitor your file and keep you informed can make the process much less stressful..

Preparation today prevents problems tomorrow.
