MITI reported strong results in the third quarter of 2025, with Johor receiving over RM56 billion in approved investments, mainly from the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

The services and manufacturing sectors contributed most of this growth, with 178 projects creating 5,833 new jobs. MITI said this shows investor confidence in Malaysia and Singapore’s cooperation through the JS-SEZ, which brings high-value investments, strengthens supply chains, and creates more skilled jobs.

Malaysia’s economy also remained stable, supported by rising exports, digital investments, and key industrial initiatives under NIMP2030. From January to September 2025, exports in electrical and electronics, pharmaceuticals, and machinery recorded strong growth.

International trade missions generated billions in potential exports and investments from major countries such as the US, China, India, the UAE, and those in Europe.

Digital investments continued to be a major economic driver, reaching RM335.3 billion over four and a half years, with most projects involving data centres that support the digital economy.

Green investments under the Green Investment Strategy reached RM25.4 billion across projects related to renewable energy, green mobility, bioenergy, and the circular economy, supporting Malaysia’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.

MITI stated it will continue strengthening Malaysia’s competitiveness through strategies focused on innovation and sustainability. Regionally, ASEAN made strong progress under the ASEAN Economic Community 2025 plan, including advancements in the Digital Economy Framework Agreement and initiatives to help 10,000 SMEs go green.

ASEAN is also targeting 45% renewable energy capacity by 2030 and improving trade agreements such as ATIGA and ACFTA to boost regional supply chains.

Two major trade agreements the Malaysia-Korea Free Trade Agreement and the Reciprocal Trade Agreement were signed to expand market access. Timor-Leste was also officially accepted as ASEAN’s 11th member, marking a step toward greater regional unity.
