First train unveiled: The inaugural RTS train—manufactured by CRRC—was officially revealed today (June 30, 2025) at the Singapore Rail Test Centre in Tuas .
Service details:
The line will connect Bukit Chagar (Johor) to Woodlands North (Singapore), covering about 4 km, with an expected journey time of ~5 minutes and peak frequency every 3.6 minutes .
Service hours are planned from 6 a.m. to midnight daily .
Each four‑car train holds around 607 passengers (up to ~1,000 during peak times), and all eight trains are scheduled for deployment by the launch .
Construction progress:
The rail system is currently about 56% complete as of June 30, including tracklaying, signalling, power systems, and communications infrastructure .
On‑site testing is set to begin this July and is expected to run for approximately four months, followed by additional testing on the actual RTS tracks .
Timeline & goals:
Passenger service is targeted for December 2026 .
The RTS Link aims to carry up to 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction and is expected to reduce Causeway road traffic by at least 35% .
Fare & operation planning:
Ticket pricing is still under study by RTS Operations (a joint venture of SMRT and Prasarana). Final fare and payment mechanisms will be announced closer to launch .
Co-located immigration, customs, and quarantine (CIQ) facilities at both ends will allow pre-clearance at the departure station .
