Celebrating a Decade of Innovation & Partnership!

On 15 May, the 2025 China Smart Industry Trade Exhibition (CSITE) was officially launched alongside the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the China Entrepreneurs Association in Malaysia (PUCM).

Deputy Communications Minister YB Teo Nie Ching praised PUCM’s efforts over the past decade in strengthening ties across technology, telecommunications, culture, and education. With Visit Malaysia Year 2026 ahead, she highlighted a 130.9% increase in tourist arrivals from China 🇨🇳 a testament to the deepening Malaysia-China relationship. 🤝🏻

She also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a dynamic and inclusive digital economy, aligned with the MADANI Economy framework.

Kudos to PUCM and President Dato’ Keith Li on this important milestone, and for establishing CSITE as a platform bridging Chinese innovation with Malaysian opportunities!

Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Chang Lih Kang, sent congratulatory messages in conjunction with the event.

Among the distinguished guests who delivered speeches were Minister of the Chinese Embassy, Zheng Xuefang; Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Communications, Teo Nie Ching; and PUCM President, Dato’ Keith Li.

🇹🇭 End of 2025!! Thailand’s Kra Super Canal Project is Finally Happening!

Big news: Thailand’s long-envisioned Kra Canal and now rebranded as the Land Bridge Project - is set to begin construction by the end of 2025!

This mega infrastructure plan will create a direct trade route between the Pacific and Indian Oceans, cutting through the Southern Economic Corridor (SEC), which includes Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Key Highlights:
• Phase 1 (worth 520 billion baht) kicks off in 2026 and is expected to be operational by 2030.
• It includes building major seaports in Ranong (6M TEU) and Chumphon (4M TEU), a 4-lane highway, new railways, and a smart logistics hub.
• The full project covers 4 phases, to be completed by 2038, with a total investment of around 1 trillion baht.

Why It Matters:
• Aims to rival the Strait of Malacca by offering a faster route for global shipping.
• Could turn Thailand into a powerful trade and logistics hub in Asia.
• Potential to create up to 1 million new jobs and generate massive economic growth.

Aiseh! Here the new mall comes - OMBAK KLCC by KLCC Holdings. Pass by almost everyday seeing it build from pilling stage.

Ombak KLCC is an upcoming retail and lifestyle mall set to open in October 2025, located near Persiaran KLCC and Jalan Binjai, adjacent to the Persiaran KLCC MRT Station.

This 6-storey development will offer a net lettable area of 420,000 square feet and a gross floor area of 1.3 million square feet, featuring over 120 retail lots, including a curated mix of lifestyle, fashion, and F&B outlets.

A rooftop park will provide visitors with a scenic view of the KLCC area. Galeri Petronas will serve as the anchor tenant, offering immersive art and cultural experiences.

The mall will be connected to the Persiaran KLCC MRT Station, part of the MRT Putrajaya Line, and a covered walkway linking Ombak KLCC to Suria KLCC is currently under construction .

While Ombak KLCC is not a full-fledged offering like Suria KLCC, it aims to cater to a different market segment, focusing on lifestyle retail and cultural experiences. Its strategic location and unique offerings are expected to make it a notable addition to the KLCC area .

Strengthening ASEAN Rail Connectivity: Malaysia–Thailand Dialogue on High-Speed Rail

On May 2, 2025, Malaysia’s Transport Minister, YB Loke Siew F**k, met with Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister, H.E. Suriya Jungrungreangkit, in Bangkok to discuss enhanced rail connectivity and future infrastructure collaboration.

The visit included a tour of the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal and focused on ongoing regional developments such as the Thai–Chinese high-speed rail line connecting Bangkok to Kunming via Laos. Discussions also covered the extension of Phase 2 to Nong Khai, which could serve as a critical link for future cross-border rail integration.

Malaysia and Thailand reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral rail cooperation—especially through existing initiatives like the MySawadee international express and cross-border freight services.

While no formal agreement was signed regarding a Kuala Lumpur–Bangkok high-speed rail link, the engagement reflects strong mutual interest in long-term ASEAN transport integration and economic connectivity.

As Malaysia continues to invest in strategic infrastructure and regional partnerships, now is the time to explore opportunities in this dynamic market.
